I directed this film, Crop Swap LA, as a part of an initiative to highlight local non-profit organizations in the Los Angeles area. After conducting my research on the Crop Swap LA organization, I quickly felt a connection to their mission of bringing fresh fruits and vegetables to the food deserts and food-insecure neighborhoods in local Los Angeles communities. When my team and I first met with the founder and executive director, Jamiah Hargins, we made an instant connection and knew that their message and our creative vision would mesh together perfectly. I am very grateful to the Crop Swap LA team for letting us share their story. As a first-time director and a novice in the world of documentary during the making of this film, I am very proud of how it turned out. This film earned Best Cinematography and Honorable Mention at the Golden Eagle Film Festival, as well as made Semi-Finalist for the Student World Impact Film Festival.
